In  October 2023, the UK Government introduced the new Simpler Recycling legislation aimed at reforming waste and recycling collections across England. The new legislation is hoped to end any confusion over what materials can and can’t be recycled. The new rules will also standardise recycling for homes, workplaces, and schools, hopefully further reduce landfill waste, and curtail illegal waste activities.

Under the new Simpler Recycling legislation being introduced across the UK, businesses with more than 10 employees will need to separate dry recyclables into dedicated containers and also ensure food waste is collected separately, regardless of the amount produced, starting from March 2025.

If your business currently has less than 10 employees, then you have until March 2027 to comply.

Also by March 2027, plastic wrap and plastic bags will also have to be included in the plastics waste stream if not already collected separately.

This, along with any other waste related compliance issues, is something we can support with and provide the most cost-effective solutions for you to ensure full compliance with the new regulations.
